HOLISTIC AND ALTERNATIVE EXPERIENCES IN LOS ANGELES, CA

May is Mental Health Awareness Month

May is Mental Health Awareness Month, a time to raise awareness and reduce the stigma surrounding mental health issues. I am thrilled to be supporting CalMHSA and the Los Angeles County Mental Health Department by providing aromatherapy at events hosted all month long. Through this outreach, I have had the opportunity to serve moms in need, mental healthcare workers, communities, veterans, and more. It’s a wonderful experience to see people light up when they smell my aromatherapy blends and then take something transformative home with them from the event.

This month-long observance was established in 1949 by Mental Health America, a leading advocacy organization dedicated to promoting mental health and ensuring that people with mental illnesses have access to the care and support they need.

Mental health is a critical component of overall health and well-being. It affects how we think, feel, and behave, and it can impact our relationships, work, and daily life. Mental health issues are common, affecting millions of people each year, and they can range from mild to severe.

Mental Health Awareness Month aims to promote mental health education and awareness, encourage people to seek help when they need it and reduce the stigma that often surrounds mental illness. It is an opportunity for individuals, organizations, and communities to come together to support mental health and advocate for better access to care.

During Mental Health Awareness Month, there are many ways to get involved and raise awareness. Here are some ideas:

1. Share your story: If you or someone you know has been affected by mental illness, share your story with others. By speaking out, you can help reduce the stigma and encourage others to seek help.

2. Educate yourself and others: Learn more about mental health issues and share what you learn with others. Mental Health America offers a variety of resources and educational materials to help you get started.

3. Support mental health organizations: There are many organizations dedicated to promoting mental health and providing support to those in need. Consider making a donation or volunteering your time to support their work.

4. Take care of yourself: Practicing self-care is an essential component of mental health. Take time to engage in activities that bring you joy, practice relaxation techniques, and prioritize your mental health needs.

5. Advocate for change: Mental Health Awareness Month is also an opportunity to advocate for change. Contact your elected officials and urge them to support mental health policies and initiatives that can improve access to care and support.
